Miss Spence- Year 3 & 4 class teacher

I completed an apprenticeship as a Learning Support Assistant in a secondary school in 2018. Since then I have graduated with a BEd (Hons) degree in Primary Education from the University of Derby. I have completed placements during University in a number of different schools across Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire ranging from EYFS to Year 6. I joined Sharnford in 2022 teaching in Year 3 and 4. My strengths lie in Maths, having specialised at University in this subject, alongside Physical Education, having been a national gymnast for many years.

In addition to my primary school role, I am also a Karate instructor. I teach diverse classes, ages ranging from 5-60+ and ranging in disabilities. This role has given me great insight into how to help children with their development into higher grades and tailor to specific needs. Developing good relationships with each individual student has helped me to understand their strengths and weaknesses, allowing each student to gain my trust. This is something I will easily be able to carry over into my role as a primary school teacher.
