Mrs Billett - Year 1 & 2 class teacher
I have been teaching for over twenty years and have worked in small, village schools, an infant school and 2 and 3 form entry schools. I have taught all year groups from EYFS to Year Six but keep being drawn back to Key Stage One where I love to watch children discover the joy of being able to read books by themselves and whose imaginative ideas make me smile every day.
I live with my husband and my two, not so little, sons. We love to go on walks and bike rides, and I have spent many a weekend by a hockey or rugby pitch watching my boy’s play. I enjoy playing tennis and have started to take part in doubles competitions; it’s quite a tricky sport to master!
I am a big Beatrix Potter fan and I have my own vegetable plot and keep rabbits. At home we also have a cat, koi fish and until recently, hens. As I love nature we built a wildlife pond too which attracts dragon flies, newts and bats. I grow flowers to attract bees and butterflies and enjoy sitting on the settee watching the birds.
Music is another passion of mine. I play the oboe, recorder and the piano and have sung in large and small choirs. I would love to go the theatre more often. Being a teacher means that I can pursue my interests at work too so have been PE and Music leads and taken part in environmental initiatives when I can.
