RE Intent Statement
The curriculum has been designed with these goals in mind:
-
To enable pupils to know about and understand Christianity as a living world faith, by exploring core theological concepts. Pupils will develop knowledge and skills in making sense of biblical texts and understanding their impact and importance in the lives of Christians.
-
To develop pupils’ abilities to connect, critically reflect on, evaluate and apply their learning to their own growing understanding of world religions and beliefs by provoking challenging questions about meaning and purpose in life, issues of right and wrong and what it means to be a human.
-
To promote pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development and encourage pupils to develop their sense of identity and belonging through self awareness and reflection.
-
To embed respect and open mindedness towards others with different faiths, beliefs and cultural practices and become aware of the influence of principal religions and world views in the local, national and global community.
